i have lived here for 2.5 years and have tried to like it. The wilderness is beautiful for sure. but other than that this is the most alienating, depressing place i could ever imagine - its no wonder my husband has an "escape from seattle" fund that he collects in a boot
Lived in several different cities in my time, and have never had such a hard time meeting people as in Seattle. Forget that the weather is absolute crap, the sun never even gets near overhead, its sunny out at 4am in the morning for the 3 clear days there are in August... and people here think that is cool.
Why in the world won't anyone actually be friendly and talk to people. Its like everyone is sneaking around because they have a micro chip and the FBI is chasing them.
60 miles per hour is the posted speed... the left lane goes.... 59mph. I want to kill myself trying to commute 10 miles to work. No wonder everyone takes the bus, its actually faster.
Why does EVERYTHING here have to "suck" to the locals. Why can't anyone do anything except complain about how lame everything is. I don't even thing they have opinions... you could bring up two completely opposite views and they would say each one of them is lame and not cool.... just because everyone here is too cool for everything.
What a waste of a city. I moved here 6 months ago... and just decided to pull the trigger on getting the F out of the god forsaken wasteland and go back to California where you can actually buy a bottle of alcohol on sunday or past 6 pm on a week day.... like it would matter anyway, everyone here would be too cool to have fun with drinking anyway.
183 days to go... no wonder this is the suicide capital of the world.
so yesterday, the small amount of time i spent out of the house i wore a coat, gloves and scarf while walking around by the water!!!! WTF!!!
When we decided we wanted to leave seattle it was because of....
1.the people
2.the rude people
3.the miserable people
4.pets in the grocery store
5.bitches with double wide strollers owning the isles of the smallest trader joes in the country
6.people letting their children drink coffee
7.crime
8.the fat people(more muffin tops out here than in the midwest or the south)
9.the fake sense of liberalism and people acting like they care but really don't.
10.how over-priced it is to live in this 'small town'.

Now i can say without a doubt i want to leave because of the weather. this has been the worst spring/ begining of summer in my entire life. when i talk to friends in every other part of the country and see their sunkissed photos on fb, i can't believe i am living in a place where the weather feels like late november. i have lived in seattle for 10 months and have been trying to leave since about 3 months after moving here. we finally have interviews in another city far from here, the first week of july and they can't come soon enough. every day i spend here feels like a waste of my existence.
fuck you seattle!!! yes, i am bitter and ready to go.
