Observations about Seattleites at Vegas airport

Default-member

The last time I visited Las Vegas and was at the airport for my return flight, I didn't have to check the departures board to figure out which flight was to Seattle.

All I had to do was look for the gate with all of the gloomy, silent, repressed, asexual looking people sitting near it.

There were passengers at the gate from another, earlier flight to Seattle that had been delayed due to mechanical issues.

My flight was still on time. I overheard a man from the delayed Seattle flight say "well, the fair thing to do would be to put us on this next flight and bump these other people off to fend for themselves."

Fortunately, no airline would operate that way. However, to the Seattle mentality, there's probably some twisted logic to the notion. I noticed a few people on my (non-delayed) flight within earshot of the guy look guilty and fidget, as though they thought the airline would actually do that. I also occurs to me that the delayed flight could be one reason why people were so gloomy but, it was everyone at the Seattle flight gate, not just the delayed people.

The few people who were talking were mostly complaining about Vegas and saying how they couldn't wait to get back to Seattle. My guess is that fun actually offends most of these people; therefore, Vegas is anathema to them.

Speaking for myself, Vegas rocked. I love that town.

It's not their job to do their job

Joke: How many Seattleites does it take to build a decent house?
Answer: none, the operative word being "decent"

The work ethic here is like something out of the movie "Idiocracy."

This apathetic behavior toward work results in everything from minor annoyances to serious oversights.

I could ramble for paragraphs, citing examples, but the main ones that come to mind:
One of the contractors I'd consulted about building a new fence around my yard not only wanted cash up front (ha!) but suggested that they just hang the fence off of the neighbors' fencepost on one side. Umm, yeah, right. I hired the contractor who didn't try to rip me off or suggest something stupid.
Overheard in dentist's waiting room:
Woman: "My crown fell out, and he just put it in last week."
Receptionist: "Yeah, that happens sometimes, just have a seat." (suffice to say, that, upon overhearing this, I decided not to see that particular dentist and walked out).
Car dealership service center, new car, just getting the license plates: the dude put the one with the month/year stickers on it at the front of the car and the one without the stickers at the back.
Movers: not only complained that we had "all this stuff" (duh, that's why we hired them) but, while following me from my old apartment to my new house, they drove about 15 mph.
Now that I think about it, people in Seattle do very few things right. It's either stupidity, laziness, or both.

Seattle: where everything is done half-assed and takes twice as long.
